Folding @ Home

For all those who are interested in donating spare CPU cycles to a good cause, I recommend you try out Folding @ Home (http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Main).

I used to do this pretty heavily (think on the order 10,15 machines) but I stopped a while ago. I'm starting back up now!

If you're interested, I invite you to join team 154187 when you install the client.

On my dinky laptop it takes about 100 hours (a little more than 4 days) of computing time to figure out how the proteins will 'fold'. Long story short this program does calculations on your computer to help try and find new cures for cancer by understanding how proteins react (how and why).

I encourage all to check it out. It's for a good cause, I promise. :)
